Turkey orders arrest of 210 military personnel for their connection to Gulen

SANAA, April 26 (Saba) – The Istanbul prosecutor’s office said on Friday it had ordered the arrest of 210 military personnel suspected of links to the network, which Ankara blamed for the failed coup in 2016.

They are suspected supporters of opposition cleric Fethullah Gülen, who lives in the United States and is accused by the Turkish authorities of plotting the coup three years ago.

Gülen denied any role in the matter.

Turkish authorities have detained more than 77,000 people awaiting trial since the coup failed, and large-scale arrests continue on a regular basis. Fifteen thousand government and military personnel have also been dismissed or suspended.
