Ministry of Foreign Affairs celebrates UN Chinese Language Day

SANAA, April 23 (Saba) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized Tuesday the event on the occasion of the UN Chinese Language Day in cooperation with the global group of BRICS strategic projects.

At the event, Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf pointed out that the celebration of this occasion stems from the depth of the Yemeni-Chinese historical relations and reflects the desire to strengthen and activate these relations with friends in the People’s Republic of China.

“The honor of organizing this event is a message to the Chinese government and people that reflects the desire for the relationship between the two sides to remain positive,” he said.

He said this is a message addressed from capital Sanaa, the historic capital of the Yemeni people, not from the corridors of hotels abroad that does not represent Yemen and its people.

During the event, speeches were delivered by the Head of the Department of Asia and Australia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yahya Al-Shahari, and the representative of the Global Group of BRICS Strategic Projects Fuad Al-Ghafari and Head of the Department of West Asian and Arab Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

In its entirety, they emphasized the importance of teaching foreign languages ​​and opening up to the cultures of the world.

They noted the importance of reviving the Silk Road because of its economic and political value for Yemen and the countries of the region.
