Foreign Minister meets UN Special Envoy to Yemen

SANA’A, Jan. 23 (Saba) – Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf met on Monday the Special Envoy of Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ismail Ould Cheikh.

The meeting dealt with ways to strengthen efforts to achieve peace and pushing negotiations that serve the Yemeni people and reach peaceful political settlement satisfactory for all parties.

FM confirmed that the Republic of Yemen represented by the Supreme Political Council, the government and the Yemeni people are supporting the national negotiation delegation and seeking for peace that ensure bloodshed stop and the end of the aggression and lift the siege imposed on the Yemeni people as well.
The meeting also stressed on the necessity of reopening of the Sana’a International Airport and bringing life and security to Yemen at all levels socially and economically to ensure the promotion of peace and security at the regional and international levels .

Sharaf also stressed that the Yemeni people are looking forward to the New Year and political changes in the world to bring peace to Yemen and ending the aggression and commencing a real and serious negotiations based on an effective political partnership.

For his part, Ould Cheikh briefed Foreign Minister on his talks with the national negotiations delegation, wishing these good efforts to continue and to be supported by all to facilitate his tasks.
