Iran, Pakistan agree to form joint force to secure common borders
[22/April/2019] TEHRAN, April 22 (Saba) - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Monday expressed his country's agreement with Pakistan to set up joint anti-terrorism forces on the border between the two countries.

"We discussed several common issues and it was agreed to form a joint anti-terror force on the border between the two countries," Iranian President Hassan Rouhani told a news conference with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan in Tehran.

He noted the two countries' will to develop their bilateral relations in various fields

"There is no third country capable of influencing fraternal and friendly relations between the two countries," he said.

Rouhani expressed his satisfaction with Islamabad's position on regional and international alliances, saying "I am happy that the Pakistani prime minister has confirmed that his country is not participating in any alliance of war and that the will of the two countries is based on establishing security and peace in the whole region," he said.

For his part, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan called for not allowing the use of territory of both countries to carry out terrorist operations against any of the two countries.

"We need to build mutual confidence that both countries will not allow using their territory to carry out terrorist operations against the other country," Imran Khan said. "We need more confidence to cooperate in various fields in the future," he added.

"We know that Iran is also suffering from terrorism and in fact it is suffering from groups that use Pakistani territory" he said.

"If the issue of terrorism did not exist, the differences between the two countries would not have increased, so it was important that I make this visit to Tehran," he said.

Imran Khan called for the need to strengthen cooperation with Iran in various fields, including energy, industry and trade, expressing Islamabad's readiness to benefit from the Iranian experience in the field of health system.
