U.S. vows to promote partnership with Yemen in near future

WASHINGTON, Aug.11 (Saba)- The U.S. President Barack Obama has confirmed keenness and commitment of the U.S. to strengthen its partnership with Yemen's leadership, government and people during the coming period.

This came at a meeting Friday evening gathered President Obama with Chargé d'affaires of the Yemeni embassy in Washington Adel al-Sonini on the sidelines of a Ramadan breakfast banquet hosted by Obama at the White House for the diplomatic missions of Islamic countries accredited in Washington and senior Muslim American leaders.

The U.S. President showed understanding of the U.S. government to the challenges facing Yemen at the present time, confirming his country's keenness to continue its support for Yemen so as to enhance its ability to meet those challenges.

For his part, al-Sonini conveyed regards of President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi to President Obama ,expressing the thanks and appreciation of the Yemeni leadership, government and people for the pivotal role of the U.S. in supporting the transitional phase.

He praised the decision of the U.S. administration to allocate $ 337 million to support Yemen during the current year, which is the largest aid package in the history of Yemeni-American relations.
