Yemen, WB discuss improving communications sector environment

SANA'A, July 16 (Saba)- Yemen and the World Bank (WB) discussed on Monday a number of topics relating to improving the communications sector environment through the draft communications and information Law.

The two sides touched ,in a meeting gathered here Minister of Communications and Information Technology Ahmed Obaid bin Daghr and Chief economist of Yemen at the World Bank in Wilfried Engelke, on the technical support to be provided by the WB in this aspect.

At the meeting, bin Daghr confirmed that 95 percent of the law is in line with the development in Yemen and the requirements of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

He pointed out that the WB's notes on the law will be studied, noting to the importance of the WB's support to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology for the success of this project and the other technical projects.

For his part, the WB's official confirmed that the possibility of technical and fiscal support for restructuring the Ministry and improving the communications environment will be discussed by the Bank in its coming meetings.
