Yemen's unity is int'l community's demand: US congressman

SANA'A, June 15 (Saba) - A US congressman has confirmed that that the security, stability and unity of Yemen is a demand confirmed the entire international community.

During his meeting with President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi held on Thursday, Todd Platts said that the US coordinates with the international community to assist Yemen in its war against terrorism,

Platts, who headed a US congress delegation visiting Yemen, stressed that his country's support would continue for Yemen until the Gulf initiative and the UN resolution 2014 being completely achieved and the transitional period ends with the desired goals.

He highly appreciated the great efforts President Hadi has made to address the difficult conditions Yemen is experiencing.

President Hadi reviewed with the delegation the nature of crisis erupted early in 2011 in the country and the efforts have been made to tackle it at the national, regional and international levels.

Hadi also talked about the crisis-generated problems in the economic, political and security areas. He said the economic situation, which was weak already, has deteriorated considerably due to the crisis, stressing that is required great aid to help Yemen to undertake the ongoing critical circumstances.

The President indicated to several issues Yemen has and still suffers from, including combating the terrorism of al-Qaeda that has taken advantage of crisis and expanded its terrorist offensive over many areas topped by Abyan province.

He accentuated that the Yemeni army has made magnificent victories against al-Qaeda and today, it is hunting all the terrorist militants until they are eradicated completely from the country.
