Yemen, Italy discuss cultural cooperation

ROMA, June 14(Saba)- Yemen and Italy discussed on Thursday the bilateral relations between the two countries in the cultural field and prospects of the distinct activities of the Italian archaeological missions working in Yemen.

This came during a meeting gathered Minister of Culture Abdullah Manthoq, who is currently visiting Roma, and his Italian counterpart Lorenzo Oranji.

The two sides touched upon ways to develop the protocol of cooperation between the two countries so as to include new areas, especially the areas of archaeological exploration , the preservation of cultural heritage and the cultural exchange.

The Italian minister confirmed the interest of his country in cooperation with Yemen and it's commitment to stand by Yemen in the coming stage and it's aspiration to expand and boost the areas of cooperation.

On the other hand, Manthoq met with Director General of International Center for the Study, Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), Dr. Stefano De Caro and Technical Manager of the Center Catherine Ontomarkiy .

At the meeting, Manthoq discussed with them the mechanisms to take advantage of the activities carried out by the Center in the areas of rehabilitation and training and the possibility of organizing these activities in Yemen, which would contribute to maintain the cultural, artistic and archaeological heritage in Yemen.
