Over 2000 Gulf tourists visit Yemen
[07/February/2011]
SANA'A, Feb. 07 (Saba)- As many as 2121 tourists from the Gulf Cooperation Council states entered Yemen on Saturday.

In a press release, the Yemeni Immigration and Passports Authority pointed out that the GCC citizens come daily to Yemen in numbers ranging between 800-1000 tourists.

"The number of the GCC tourists coming to Yemen increases to between 2000-2500 tourists at weekends", it added.

In December 2010, Yemen started to launch the first tourism promotion campaign in several Gulf cities.

The campaign aimed to attract gulf people to make tourist tours in Yemen as well as improving Arab inter-Arab and regional tourism.

Yemen had successfully organized the 20th Gulf Cup tournament, which opened wide horizons of joint cooperation between Yemen and the Gulf states.

The tourism promotion campaign began in Qatar and included Oman, Bahrain, Dubai and Kuwait.

During the Yemeni campaign, several meetings were held with a number of tourist agents and journalists, press conferences and symposiums on tourism in Yemen in addition to holding live performances of some Yemeni various folklores.
