Yemen seeks deal on Mareb Refinery expansion
[19/November/2009]

SANA'A, Nov. 19 (Saba) - The Yemeni Petroleum Refining Company has started negotiations with a number of foreign companies in an attempt to reach a deal for financing the expansion of Mareb Refinery.

With the negotiations about to come to an end, an agreement is expected in the next days, executive director of the company Mused Al-Sabari has said.

All studies over the expansion project have been prepared and under the expansion plans, the refinery capacity will raise from 10.000 barrels to 25.000 barrels a day, he said.

Petrochemical industries will also be affected by the expansion at a time when the company seeks to attract investments in an effort to contribute to boosting the national economy, Al-Sabari said, adding it has also been working on industries based on oil and gas such cleaners and fertilizers.
